[30.09.09] Chad – Domestic and Regional Challenges

The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs [NUPI] has the great pleasure of inviting you to a seminar with Victor Angelo, Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad.

Chad – Domestic and Regional Challenges

Tid:
Onsdag 30.09.09, kl.14:00
Sted:
NUPI , C.J. Hambros plass 2 D

  • Lecture by Victor Angelo, Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the UN Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad.
  • Comment by Espen Barth Eide, Deputy Minister of Defence (State Secretary).

Norway's largest UN peacekeeping contribution – with some 150 Norwegian peacekeepers – is today in Chad not far from the border to Sudan's Darfur region. We are therefore pleased to welcome to a seminar on challenges facing the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT) as they work to implement the Security Council's mandate.

Victor Angelo has a long and distinguished career with the UN. Before taking up the position as Head of the UN mission in the Central African Republic and Chad, he served as Executive Representative of the Secretary-General for the United Nations Office in Sierra Leone (UNIOSIL) and UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative between 2005 and 2007.
