The talk is based on Franklyn Lisk's paper A New Development Challenge in Global Governance: Adaptation to the Effects of Climate Change on Human Development and Poverty Reduction Objectives in Sub-Saharan Africa . The paper explores the nature and problematique of the link between climate change and human development and poverty reduction in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) as a new challenge in global governance and examines the pathways (e.g. food insecurity, infectious diseases, population displacements, etc.) through which climate change affects human well-being and sustainable development.

 

Franklyn Lisk is Professorial Research Fellow at Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation at the University of Warwick. He is active in the work of the Sub-Saharan Africa Research Network at the Institute of Advanced Study at Warwick and was Professor at the African Centre for HIV/AIDS Management at Stellenbosch University in South Africa from 2005 to 2006.
