The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs has the pleasure of inviting you to a seminar:

Europe as a power for peace
What role does the EU play in the making and upholding of peace? What is the union’s assets and/or uniqueness when put up against the security challenges in the European region and globally?

Associate professor Lisbeth Aggestam at the University of Bath poses this timely question after the EU was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2012.

Dr. Lisbeth Aggestam is a lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of Bath, where she is also Deputy Director on the MA Politics and Euromasters Programmes. Before coming to Bath, she worked as a Research Fellow at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (SIIA) and was a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge in 2006-2008. Dr Aggestam holds a PhD from the Department of Political Science, Stockholm University. Her work focuses on national and European foreign policy from a role theory perspective. Her forthcoming book is entitled European Foreign Policy and the Quest for a Global Role: Britain, France and Germany and will be published by Routledge. Her current research focuses on concepts of Europe as a global power.
