Ms Liliana Ferraro has a long career in the work of combating organized crime in Italy and abroad. She has held various key roles in this work, including that of Chief Prosecutor of organized crime at the Department of Justice.
Ms. Ferraro is strongly engaged in promoting closer international cooperation to fight this global challenge. She has been instrumental in organizing the first World Ministerial Conference on Organized Transnational Crime in Naples in 1994, which was followed by the adoption of the UN Palermo Convention in 2000, of which the 10th anniversary is celebrated this year.
