[08.06.12] Linking Regional Security and Human Rights in the AU and ASEAN

The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs' Centre for Global Governance has the pleasure of inviting you to a seminar:

Linking Regional Security and Human Rights in the AU and ASEAN
The seminar will present findings from a research project on how human rights norms influence security discourse and practice within the Association of East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the African Union (AU).

Through specific case studies, namely the crises in Libya, Côte d’Ivoire, Myanmar and Southern Thailand, the project has assessed the manner and degree to which the human rights architectures in Africa and South East Asia have impacted on decision-making and the formulation of regional responses to conflict situations characterized by grave human rights violations.
