South Sudan: State-building or Disintegration?

[28.09.11] South Sudan: State-building or Disintegration?

Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) has the great pleasure of inviting you to a seminar with Andrews Atta-Asamoah from the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), a leading African research institute on human security issues:

South Sudan
– State-building or Disintegration?

On 9 July 2011, the Republic of South Sudan became Africa’s 54th  state, after achieving its long awaited independence from the Sudan (North). The road to a well-functioning state apparatus and sustainable peace is, however, likely to be protracted and turbulent. This seminar will focus on the impact of the emerging security challenges in South Sudan and the role of UNMISS in managing such threats; and some of the key challenges related to the state-building process, with a specific focus on North-South dynamics and threats to sustainable peace and stability in South Sudan.

Sorry, but the seminar is fully booked.
