The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) in collaboration with the Norwegian Centre for Humanitarian Studies (NCHS), have the pleasure of inviting you to a theory seminar: 

Raymond Apthorpe: 'Effective Aid: on how humanitarian aid ‘works’.

The seminar is co-hosted by the Norwegian Centre for Humanitarian Studies (NCHS) recently established by CMI, NUPI and PRIO.

Apthorpe is a social anthropologist and a professor at SOAS, and has been involved for many years in development and humanitarian studies. He will discuss a recent article and present some issues and topics for the Norwegian Centre for Humanitarian Studies.

The article - Effective Aid: the poetics of some aid workers’ angles on how humanitarian aid ‘works’  (Third World Quarterly, vol. 33 no 8, 2012) will be forwarded to registered participants.
