To Stay and Deliver
- OCHA and humanitarians in complex security environments

Valerie Amos and Jan Egeland, the current and the former Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, will give presentations on how to respond to the growing insecurity of aid operations and the resulting decline in humanitarian access.

Introductions by

  • Jan Egeland, former USG/ERC

The introductions are followed by a talk between Valerie Amos and Jan Egeland, led by Elisabeth Rasmusson, the Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Counsil. 

 

Background information

USG/ERC Valerie Amos assumed office 1 September 2010. Prior to her appointment to the UN, she had been British High Commissioner to Australia. She has served as Leader of the House of Lords and Lord President of the Council. 

Former USG/ERC Jan-Egeland lead a research team and recently presented the OCHA-report: To Stay and Deliver: Good Practice for humanitarians in complex security environments.

Secretary General Elisabeth Rasmusson assumed her present position in NRC in January 2008.

Background report:

An independent research team, led by Jan Egeland, undertook field studies in complex security environments. The report To Stay and Deliver synthesis the findings, as well as specific inputs and guidance.
