The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) is a leading research and information community for international political and economic affairs and for affairs of particular interest to Norwegian foreign policy. NUPI also has a responsibility to inform the general public of international affairs. The institute is a public administrative body subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Research, and numbers some 60 employees. Our offices are located in Oslo city centre.
NUPI is seeking a research assistant in a temporary position for a project on the role of media in Tunisia and Lebanon. You will gather, systematize and analyze primary sources from newspapers, television and radio in the two countries. In addition, you will assist in the organization and logistics of meetings and events.

Applicants must be fluent in Arabic and proficient in either English, French or Norwegian. You must have completed higher education (a BA degree or above). Journalistic experience from the Arab world may substitute for higher education.
Applicants should have a well-developed capacity for independent and systematic work.
Start: January 2018
This is a 50% position for two years (January 2018 – December 2019).
Compensation: Research Assistant will be eligible for salary from 176 450 – 208 300 NOK per year before tax (50% of 352 900 – 416 600).
