This conclusion engages with some of the broader questions raised by the contributions and highlights the volume’s insights on how, in spite of its growing appeal to western donors, the effectiveness of security promotion in low and medium-income countries remains largely untested. In laying out the evidence of what works and what does not, the contributors to this volume aimed to close a number of gaps in relation to the (under) conceptualization of DDR and (in some cases falsely) attributed dividends of such activities.
