On September 10 2002 FFI gave a seminar on the topic "Russia as an associated member of Nato, and Norway." This report is a collection of the contributions to the seminar. The talks given at the seminar shed light on the development of relations between Russia and the West after 11. September and assessed the consequences of this new relationship for Norway and the Norwegian Defence. In the report the prospects of a future Russian-Western security community is discussed, focusing both on new possibilities and obvious obstacles. Further, the question of whether a closer relation between Russia and the West will ease tensions in the north or make local conflicts more difficult to deal with is addressed.
