>> Summary
At the end of 2007, DPKO has released, for the first time in the UN’s history, a Peacekeeping Capstone Doctrine that defines and sets out the UN’s approach to peacekeeping operations. The Oslo Doctrine Seminar provided an opportunity for a select group of researchers that have specialised in this field, to discuss the new Capstone Doctrine with those responsible for drafting it, with the aim of better understanding the intent, context and implications of the new Doctrine.
The Oslo Doctrine Seminar Report highlights some of the main issues that were discussed during the seminar, and includes a list of participants and and copy of the programme. The Report serves as an introduction to some of the main aspects of UN peacekeeping doctrine debate.
