Reflections on the Impact of South Sudan on Regional Political Dynamics

This paper examines the political impact of South Sudan’s independence on its neighbours, in a region of Africa thatis made up of countries with a history of conflicts, weak state authority and poor governance. It also discusses the roles of the United States and China, in relation to their capacities to contribute toward easing tensions between Sudan and South Sudan and to promote peace in the region.
