The book is marred by the conflation of development and humanitarian aid, and the use of 'dominant culture' as a rhetorical technique to give a disproportionately small space to the efforts that already are being made on a local level, both among peace-builders and its theorists.
However, the attacks on peace-buliders' blueprint solutions, macro approaches and their election fetishism are valid. The strong and convincing argument for local peace-building will secure the book to be a new fixture in the peace-building literature firmament.
