For a large sub-continent such as India, the interplay between domestic and international trade integration is crucial for the social impact of globalisation. One contribution to the project therefore aims at providing the first new evidence on the extent of domestic trade integration in India and its role concerning inequality and regional disparities. In addition, the contribution of services expansion and export growth to job creation and poverty reduction in India's states will be examined.
