The European Security System Revisited
The project examines Russia's integration into European security and cooperation and asks how policies to reduce challenges to peace and security and integrating policies can mutually reinforce each other.Deltakere
The project comes in two interrelated parts. First, it examines how Russia may become an integral part of European security and cooperation. This question is usually discussed in the traditional peace and security paradigm. The project does the same, but moves on to ask a series of questions about the nature of the European system in the time ahead.
The second part addresses the complex trans-national peace and security challenges. How can policies to reduce such risks and policies to integrate Russia become mutually reinforcing?
Both questions are examined with a view to peace and security in the global domain. How can Europe best contribute to peace and security as a global common good?
A workshop on these issues is due at NUPI on May 13-14, 2011 .

The project is part of a three year project conducted under the auspices of the Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research (Tokyo and Honolulu).
