This project will analyse Norwegian (Afghanistan case study) and international approaches to, and experiences with, integrated operations, aiming to generate recommendations for improving Norway's ability to undertake successful integrated operations in the medium to long term. The research project will study the integration and coordination challenges experienced by Norway in Afghanistan and compare it with international best practices and knowledge in the area of integration and coordination in peacekeeping and peacebuilding missions. In the process, the project will generate findings and recommendations, contribute to the ongoing debate on a security concept in transition and thus highlight issues that are relevant for the production of knowledge and doctrines in Norwegian defence policy.
