The African Union (AU) has developed policies and guidance in both the peacekeeping and peacebuilding fields, but to date these sets of policy issues have been developed and applied by two different sets of policy communities in the AU, The Peace Support Operations Division (PSOD) and the Conflict Management Division (CMD). The main goal of the research project is to help enhance the ability of the AU to manage conflicts and peace processes by improving its capacity to undertake peacekeeping and peacebuilding operations.
