Energy issues have assumed a major role in political processes in Latin America and are widely recognized as root cause of many of the current political and civil confrontations in the region.

The project aims to improve understanding of how discourses of energy are articulated, formed by, and impact on Latin American politics and society. This is done through a broad and ambitious research program covering six Latin American countries, and involving researchers from five Norwegian academic institutions, from the UK, and from the Latin American countries.

Axel Borchgrevink is responsible for the Nicaraguan case study.
