The project concerns the MINURCAT mission in Chad (and CAR) and the Protection of Civilians (PoC) mandate in terms of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). The specific focus is to identify the challenges on the ground regarding refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) and challenges facing the newly deployed police – Integrated Security Detachment (DIS) – in meeting the PoC requirements in terms of SGBV. What are the major successes and failures? What possible solutions can be sought for improving DIS? The study will seek to provide insights on how to prevent SGBV by contributing to the ongoing development of the UN’s DIS initiative.
