The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) will host the Training and Rostering Community Roundtable on the UN Review of Civilian Capacities, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 29 June 2010.
In cooperation with the UN Peacebuilding Support Office, the roundtable will provide an opportunity to have an early discussion on ways in which the international peacekeeping and peacebuilding training and rostering community can support the United Nations review of civilian capacities.
In particular, the roundtable will provide an opportunity to discuss
(a) current gaps and challenges,
(b) models of interoperability,
(c) strategies for improving the recruitment, rostering and training of civilian experts where critical shortages exist, and
(d) opportunities for partnerships within the training, rostering and recruitment community.
The roundtable will be attended by representatives from the international training and rostering community, as well as representatives from the United Nations and the African Union.
