Montenegro is about to become NATOs 29th member, and is the first country from the Western Balkans to join since Croatia in 2009. In a period of increased geopolitical tension, internal divisions within Europe and the West, and a range of new challenges facing the country, this is a small but important sign of progress. Furthermore, as the EU enlargement process appears to have slowed down, so have the reform and democratization process in several candidate countries. Developments in many neighboring countries are troublesome, with fading hope in democratic plurality, the rule of law and prosperity.

Mr. Aleksandar Andrija Pejović, Minister of European Affairs of Montenegro, and Chief Negotiator for Montenegro's Accession to the European Union, will share his view of this situation - as seen from Montenegro.

The Minister will do a presentation followed by a Q&A session.

Chair is Senior Adviser at NUPI, Karsten Friis.
