New book: Perspectives on international taxation and capital flight from Africa

New book from the TaxCapDev-network.

New book «Lifting the veil of secrecy: Perspectives on international taxation and capital flight from Africa», edited by Odd-Helge Fjeldstad, Sigrid Klæboe Jacobsen, Prosper Ngowi and Peter Ringstad

The book is produced as a part of the research project Taxation, Institutions and Participation (TIP). TIP investigates the effects of tax havens on domestic revenue systems, institutions and on citizen participation in African countries. The project aims to generate new, contextualised evidence on the political economy of domestic revenue mobilisation, institutional development and state legitimacy in countries exposed to large scale capital flows. TIP is led by Prof Odd-Helge Fjeldstad, Chr. Michelsen Institute, and funded by the Research Council of Norway. Among the contributors are: Annette Alstadsæter, Rabah Arezki, Raymond Baker, Alex Cobham, Nimmo Elmi, Maya Forstater, Caleb Fundanga, Stig Jarle Hansen, Brooke Harrington, Sara Jespersen, Olav Lundstøl, Lovisa Möller, Leonce Ndikumana, Janvier Nkurunziza, Annett Oguttu, Sol Picciotto, Guttorm Schjelderup, Lemma Senbet, Prem Sikka, Attiya Waris and Gabriel Zucman.

The book was pre-launched at the 5th Pan Africa Conference on IFF and Tax in Nairobi, 11 October 2017. The book will be available online in November 2017, and will then be launched in Dar es Salaam. Book launches are also planned in Oslo and Bergen in early 2018 in collaboration with the TaxCapDev Network.
