[15.12.11] An appraisal of hybrid and support models for peacekeeping in Africa

This workshop will explore the benefits and disadvantages of various support models for African peace missions, including the hybrid UNAMID model, the direct donor AMIS model, and the UN support office AMISOM model.

The central questions this workshop will address are: Why is there such a large difference in perception on the hybrid model between the UN and AU? What is informing their respective evaluations? How does an evaluation of the hybrid model inform future mission designs? How does the UNAMID model compare with the UN support model for AMISOM?

This event is by invitation only and is co-organized by the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI), the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation (DHF).
