Paul Collier is professor of Economics and Director of the Centre for the Study of African Economies at the University of Oxford. He is the author of the award-winning international bestseller The Bottom Billion . He has previously been Director of the World Bank’s Development Research Group and has worked extensively on the connections between resource economics and civil war. Currently he is cooperating with a prominent group of academics including Nobel Prize winner Michael Spence and DFID Chief Economist Tony Venables on the formulation of guidelines to promote improved management of natural resource income by developing countries. This will also be the topic of his presentation at NUPI.
