Ingvild Magnæs Gjelsvik
Junior researcherGjelsvik has specialized in the areas of disengagement, radicalization- deradicalization and reintegration of members of armed groups. She has conducted extensive fieldwork in Somalia focusing how individuals engage with and disengage from al-Shabaab and piracy groups and looked at the process of reintegration of female guerrilla soldiers in Colombia.
Gjelsvik is a part of Research Group on Peace, Conflict and Development, and works in the Training for Peace Programme at NUPI. She is also a member of the International Research Group on Reintegration (IRGR) and works closely with the Norwegian Police Univeristy College.
Gjelsvik will the coming years be working on community policing in Somalia as a part of a EU funded project.
