Henriette Ullavik Erstad is a graduate research assistant in the Peace, Conflict and Development Research Group at NUPI. Erstad is currently writing her master thesis in Political Science at the University of Oslo. The subject of her thesis is how Iran has mobilised Iraqi Shi’a militias since 1979.
She has had semesters abroad at the American University in Washington D.C. and Baltic State Technical University in St. Petersburg. During her time in D.C., she was an intern at the U.S. House of Representatives. She also has work experience from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Tehran.
Her research interests include international relations of the Middle East, Iranian foreign- and security policy, armed groups, and transnational movements.
