Hilde F. Johnson was a Senior Visiting Fellow in the Research Group on Peace and Conflict at NUPI.
She most recently served as Member of the UN Secretary General’s High Level Panel for the Review of UN Peace Operations (2014-2015). In 2014, she completed her three year tenure as Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) and Head of the UN Mission in South Sudan (2011- 2014). From 2007-2011 Hilde F. Johnson was Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF, where she was in charge of the organisation’s humanitarian operations, crisis response and security issues.
As Minister for International Development of Norway for almost seven years (during 1997-2005) Hilde Frafjord Johnson was in charge of development policies and programmes, as well as humanitarian response.
Hilde F. Johnson was an elected Member of Parliament from 1992-2001. She has her post-graduate degree in Development Anthropology.
