NUPI in cooperation with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes you to a webinar where leading experts and stakeholders from business, academia and government will discuss strengthening ocean related cooperation with China.

The report “Global Ocean Governance and Ecological Civilization: Building a Sustainable Ocean Economy for China” will be presented by its main authors:

• Prof. Jilan Su, Honorary President of the Second Institute of Oceanology, Ministry of Natural Resources in Beijing,
• Jan-Gunnar Winther, Specialist Director, Norwegian Polar Institute.

The report was launched by “China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development” 17.9.2020 and will contribute to set the direction for future Chinese ocean policy. 

The event also provides an opportunity to discuss how to strengthen ocean cooperation between China and Norway, an ambition that was expressed during the recent visit to Norway by the Chinese Foreign Minister. Harald Solberg, CEO for The Norwegian Shipowners’ Association and Hanne-Grete Nilsen from the Norwegian Environment Agency will give their comments on the report. Towards the end of the webinar, the Chinese Ambassador to Norway, H.E. Ambassador Xianliang Yi will give his closing remarks.
