Peace operations
Peace operations aim at stabilizing a conflict and helping to implement a ceasefire or comprehensive peace agreement.
NUPI’s work on peace operations is closely tied to peacebuilding. With peace operations as well as peacebuilding, our research is grounded in extensive fieldwork that can provide important insights into conflict transformation and help peacebuilding processes at the local, national, regional and international levels.
Research topics within the field of peace operations include:
- How well do international peace operations actually work?
- How do local actors interact with international actors in peace operations?
- How can security be established through security sector reform?
