Mr Ibrahimov
was born in 1965 and is qualified in Arabic and Oriental Studies and English and French Languages (1981–87). Between 1995 and 2000 he also acquired qualifications in finance from the Chartered Institute of Bankers in London. Initially seconded to Algeria with the Ministry of Defence (1987–90), he was employed in commercial organisations from 1990 to 1993. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan in 1993 and worked for the State Protocol Department and the International Economic Organisations Department before he was appointed Head of the Consular Service of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the UK in 1994, a position he held till 2001. He was appointed Ambassador to the Court of St James’s in 2001. He is married and has two children.
