TOWARD A NUCLEAR WEAPONS-FREE WORLD
The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs has the pleasure of inviting you to a seminar on nuclear disarmament with Rolf Ekeus and Sverre Lodgaard
Toward a nuclear weapons-free world
The starting point of this seminar is Sverre Lodgaards article on the subject in the latest issue of the journal Dædalus
from the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Lodgaard and Ekeus will discuss the vision of a world without nuclear arms; roads that may lead in that direction, and the importance of nuclear disarmament for non-proliferation and the future of the NPT (the nuclear non-proliferation treaty).
Rolf Ekeus was head of UNSCOM (the United Nations Special Commission on Iraq) and has been Sweden’s ambassador to Washington and Geneva (Conference on Disarmament). He is chairman of the SIPRI Governing Board and member of the board of the Washington-based Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI). Sverre Lodgaard was director of NUPI (1997-2007) and is currently a senior research fellow at the Institute. He is member of the Pugwash Council and Executive Committee and chairman of the International Board of the Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC).
