Research Project

Dialogue and learning across divides in North Caucasus

The project aims to create an arena for learning and dialogue between MA and PhD students with an interrest in the North Caucasus and give them an opportunity to establish contact with scholars working on conflict and reconciliation in this region.

Themes

  • Terrorism and extremism
  • Russia and Eurasia
  • Peace operations
  • Conflict

The project will contribute to academic collaboration on – and conflict resolution in – the North Caucasus working across three levels:

  1. On the personal level, the project will create greater mutual trust between North Caucasian and Russian students and broaden their understanding of each other's life experiences and ways of seeing the world
  2. On the academic level, the project will establish a North Caucasian/Russian network of future and current experts which will generate new knowledge about the conflicts and contribute to peace and reconciliation in the long run
  3. On the social level, the project will establish channels of online communication and interaction for wide network of students and experts.
