Sara MerabtiResearch Assistant
Merabti is a doctoral student in political science at University Paris-Est, and a research assitant at NUPI.
She is interested in politics and security governance in North-Africa and the Middle East following the ‘Arab Spring’. Her research is about the role that diverse types of non-state groups (violent and non-violent ones) can play in providing security in spaces beyond the reach of the state. Methodologically, she has explored the use of anthropological methods in political science. She conducted original fieldwork in the borderlands of Western Libya, and gained access to areas which have been difficult to reach for outsiders.
