HOW TO MAKE PEACE? NUPI, through our UN70 project, have supported and co-organized three of the regional and thematic consultations leading up to the high-level thematic debate on UN, peace and security in May.
Peace in a world of threats
NUPI participates in the high-level thematic debate on UN, Peace and Security organized by the UN General Assembly 10-11 May 2016.
This event, organized by the President of the General Assembly, Mogens Lykketoft, will be a platform to identify key threats and engage in a strategic reflection about today’s challenges to international peace and security. 30 Foreign Ministers will participate in the meetings, among them Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende.
More information on the high-level thematic debate here.
NUPI, through our UN70 project, have supported and co-organized three of the regional and thematic consultations leading up to this high-level meeting (in Addis, Liberia and Brazil), and also provided a background document to those mentioned meetings
Senior Research Fellows Kari Osland, Cedric de Coning and Mateja Peter (NUPI) will present a recently published policy brief highlighting key messages and recommendations put forward during the regional meetings on May 10. The policy brief can be read in the attachment to the right on this web page.
This is a continuation of two previous MFA-funded projects: The UNPOR project, where NUPI supported the efforts of the High-Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations and the UN Peacebuilding Architecture project.
