You will be responsible for leading the writing of a joint report in collaboration with participants from 8-10 other countries. The project is for two years, and will involve some travel to workshops in the USA and Europe. There will also be some administrative work linked to the position.
We are looking for a person with social science knowledge of climate change and security: either a senior researcher (with a relevant doctoral degree) or a researcher (with a relevant master's degree) with relevant experience from project management, research or from the defense sector. Demonstrated ability for academic work, method and publication is also emphasized. As a project manager, it is important that you can be independent and responsible. Experience from other projects is therefore important. At the same time, this is a relatively new topic, where younger researchers can have the opportunity to develop.
Qualifications:
- Completed doctorate or master's degree in a relevant subject area (political science, international politics, or other social sciences).
- Expertise in climate change, security policy and Arctic issues.
- Experience with project work and management
- Competence in relevant social science theoretical and methodological perspectives.
- Command a Scandinavian language and English at a high level (written and spoken).
- Publishing experience, work experience and experience from the defense sector is desirable.
- Experience in dialogue with government bodies, nationally and internationally.
- Ability to contribute positively to NUPI's research community.
The right person does not necessarily have to possess all these qualifications, consideration will also be given to the extent to which the candidate will supplement and complete the research composition at NUPI. Personal suitability will be emphasized.

The position is paid in accordance with the Government's salary regulations. Senior researchers with a doctorate are paid according to their level of competence and are placed in Senior researchers with a doctorate are placed in salary code 1109 Researcher (from NOK 648,700 per year). Researcher 1108 (NOK 501,200) or scientific assistant 1020 (NOK 478,300). Current regulations for the assessment of seniority and salary steps are used as a basis.
