The Centre for Russian Studies has the pleasure of inviting you to the seminar:

This seminar aims at giving insights on current developments in Azerbaijan – a country of considerable importance to Norway. Statoil is the second biggest investor in Azerbaijan and Norway’s political and humanitarian engagement in the country is substantial.

The seminar will be opened by a presentation from a prominent Azerbaijani scholar Dr Elkhan Nuriyev. Dr Nuriyev is Professor of Political Science at the Western University in Baku, Azerbaijan. He served as a DAAD/OSI Research Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs in 2005–06, an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow in the Peace Research Institute in Bonn in 2000-02/2003 and J. William Fulbright Research Fellow at George Washington University in Washington, DC in 1996-97. He has written extensively on the issues of conflict resolution, energy policy, great-power politics and regional security in the Caucasus and Central Asia.

In addition, several NUPI researchers will highlight findings from their recent research projects devoted to various aspects of Azerbaijan’s domestic and foreign politics.
