During the three days, the core objective of the AU Stabilization Workshop was to examine the theory and practice of the concept Stabilization within the AU context.

Further to this, participants focused on stabilization processes in various AU missions, including AMISOM in Somalia, the AU Regional Cooperation Initiative Against the Lords Resistance Army and Regional Task force (AU-RCI-RTF), MISAHEL in Mali and the Sahel, AUTSTG in Gambia and the MNJTF in the Lake Chad Basin Region.

Towards the end of the workshop, experts discussed a way forward in developing AU Guidelines on Stabilization.

The training provided participants with a comprehensive, conceptual and operational level understanding concepts, principles, procedures and up-to-date practices relating to the planning support and management of stabilization programs across the continent as well as good practices from missions outside the continent.

Participants were drawn from the TfP partner institutions, the Peace Support Operations Division (PSOD) and various officers from AMISON and MISAHEL.
