Workshop on "Charting the Future of Peace Operations Post-Berlin Ministerial through an African Lens"
On 26 June 2025, a high-level workshop was held at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa to reflect on the Berlin Peacekeeping Ministerial and chart the future of peace operations from an African perspective.
This workshop, co-hosted by CCCPA, ISS, and NeTT4Peace, brought together AU and UN officials, diplomats, and researchers to reflect on the outcomes of the 2025 Berlin UN Peacekeeping Ministerial and advance African perspectives on peace operations reform.
Participants discussed how African priorities can shape the ongoing UN peace operations review, with a focus on strengthening AU-UN cooperation, operationalizing UNSCR 2719, and supporting African-led missions. The event emphasized the importance of African ownership, context-specific approaches, and sustained international partnerships.
