Summary
Taylor St John is a Senior Research Fellow in the Research Group on Global Order and Diplomacy.
Her research focuses on the politics and law of international economic relations. Her publications address how international institutions – especially those governing investment and trade – develop over time, as well as economic diplomacy, institutional design, and multilateralism.
At NUPI, she is researching blended finance. Before coming to NUPI, she co-led an NFR project on how foreign investors and states resolve disputes, and, together with Anthea Roberts, observed an investment law reform process within the United Nations over eight years, producing a series of papers and blogs.
Her PhD monograph, published as The Rise of Investor-State Arbitration: Politics, Law, and Unintended Consequences (Oxford University Press, 2018) co-won the International Political Economy Best Book Award from the International Studies Association. She is on the editorial boards of the European Journal of International Law and Journal of International Economic Law, and is a general editor of the Journal of International Dispute Settlement.
