Over the past years, Europe has experienced different types of crises – economic crises, migration crisis, terrorism etc. And on top of that, the EU has experienced a crisis in legitimacy. The rise of populism is threatening the very survival of the EU. The British decision to leave the EU is also a clear reminder that the EU is changing. But what will be the implications of these changes?

Marking the end of the EUNOR project, this conference will focus on implications of Brexit for the EU, the UK, the EEA and Norway. The EEA and the internal market, the prospect for a European foreign and security policy, energy security and climate change and Brexit for international trade are all areas that will be discussed here.

The three yearlong research project funded by the RCN has been on the EU and small states (The EUNOR project). EUNOR has been undertaken in cooperation with the Centre for European Law (UIO) and has been investigating how small European states in general and Norway in particular, responds to, adjusts, and adapts to a Europe in transition.
