What images of Europe does Russian TV convey to its viewers? What are the dominant Russian media narratives on Europe?

Moscow’s active use of various information channels to convey Russian official messages to both domestic and foreign audience has become a hot topic in the aftermath of 2014 crisis in Ukraine. What images of Europe does Russian TV convey to its viewers? And how should Western states respond to this new Russian information strategy?

On 25 January Liubov Tsybulska from the Ukraine Crisis Media Center will present findings from a joint project with the Estonian Center of Eastern Partnership on how Russian authorities use TV to influence public opinion in Russia and abroad entitled ‘The Image of the EU and Eastern Partnership Countries on Russian Television’. Comments and further insight will be provided by Raul Rebane, an expert on strategic communication from Estonia.
