On the occasion of the establishment of a partnership between the European University Institute (EUI) and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), we organize a deep-dive into European and global defence, diplomacy, and security.

Registration for this event is now full.

As Russia’s war in Ukraine continues to shape Europe's security landscape, China’s growing economic, technological, and geopolitical influence affects Europe’s strategic choices. At the same time, U.S. foreign policy practices have become challenging. In sum, the rules-based order is under pressure from renewed power politics.

In this situation, we have invited a high-level panel to explore the dilemmas and innovations in diplomatic engagement amid geopolitical tensions, shifting alliances, and evolving security landscapes.

This event will celebrate the strengthening of academic collaboration and intellectual exchange between our two institutions.

The partnership marks a milestone in our shared commitment to advancing research and dialogue on European and global defence, diplomacy, and security. It will deepen existing ties, foster new research initiatives, and contribute to building a more integrated European research community.
