Research Beyond the Ivory Tower: Policy and Communications Training for University Teams (BIT)

2013 - 2016 (Completed) Project number: QZA13-0338
Research Project
The project focuses on strengthening the competence of university lecturers in the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

The aim of this project is to increase the capacity of university professionals in the South Caucasus and Central Asia to participate in and set the agenda for public debate. The project will be implemented in two cycles (2013-2015 and 2015-2016). In each cycle we select up to ten university-based research teams from the eight countries targeted in the project (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan).

Selection is based on quality and policy-relevance of the proposed research projects. Emphasis is placed on enabling the teams to communicate the results of their research to relevant stakeholders and the broader public.

During each cycle of the project, three training/networking events will take place: a five-day advanced training workshop in Oslo, mid-term meetings in Tbilisi and Almaty or Bishkek, and a concluding final workshop in Oslo.

Deadline for applying for the second project cycle is 4 March 2015.
