Norwegian expertise for the future of Ukraine (FRAM)

Ukraine is a new context for many Norwegian institutions and organizations, including research milieus, which have extensive expertise on and experience from development and assistance in other regions.

Based on a mapping of the knowledge needs of actors working in and with Ukraine (planned February-March 2026), the project will strengthen expertise through:

• A series of workshops with research-based dissemination from Ukrainian, Norwegian and international researchers on the topics identified as important.
• Annual roundtables for dialogue and exchange of experiences between Norwegian actors.
   

Through these activities, the project will contribute to knowledge building and learning as part of the Nansen Programme and to making Norwegian research communities better equipped to conduct research on Ukraine and evaluate Norwegian support in the years ahead.

The topics and expertise will be shared with the general audience through public research seminars, op-eds and policy briefs, contributing to a more knowledge-based public debate about Ukraine's development, Norwegian-Ukrainian relations and Norway's (civilian) support to Ukraine.
 

Ukraina er en ny kontekst for mange norske institusjoner og organisasjoner, inkludert forskningsmiljøer, som har lang erfaring fra utviklings- og bistandsarbeid i andre regioner.

Med utgangspunkt i en kartlegging av behovene hos bistandsaktørene som arbeider i og med Ukraina (planlagt februar-mars 2026), vil prosjektet styrke kompetansen gjennom:

• Workshoper med forskningsbasert formidling fra ukrainske, norske og internasjonale forskere om temaer identifisert som viktige av bistandsaktørene
• Rundebord for dialog og erfaringsutveksling mellom norske aktører.
