In this seminar, Simon Haselock from Albany Associates will talk about media intervention in countries emerging from violent conflict, based on his experience working with media in Somalia. He will also provide some lessons learned from Mali.

Simon Haselock is the Director of Albany Associates and a pioneer in media intervention in countries emerging from violent conflict.
Since co-founding Albany he has directed projects in Kosovo, Darfur, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Somalia. He has previously worked for NATO, UN and worked with media in many conflict areas such as Sarajevo, Bosnia and Iraq. He is an Associate of the Program for Comparative Media Law and Policy (PCLMP) at Oxford University and served for 23 years in the Royal Marines. During this seminar Haselock will give us some insights from his impressive experience working with media in Somalia for AMISOM and provide some lessons learned for Mali and AFISMA. He will focus particularly on key challenges and opportunities on how information is presented to senior decision makers and how to translate messages to the wider public in Somalia and beyond.
