On March 24, all Heads of State and Governments in NATO met in Brussels for an Extraordinary NATO Summit to discuss NATO's response to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Earlier in March, we had a chance to talk to NATO General Jorg Vollmer, Commander of Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum and Lieutenant General Odlo, Commander of the Norwegian Joint headquarters in the Norwegian Defence.

In this episode of NUPI’s podcast series The World Stage, you can listen to NATO General Vollmer’s and Lieutenant General Odlo’s take on the Russian warfare against Ukraine and its implications for European security. They also touch upon perspectives on the threat Russia represents in the Baltic and High North regions today, and how this impacts NATO.

General Odlo shares insights specific to Norway’s role in the current situation. Are there any special considerations for a Norwegian response, given Norway´s proximity to Russia´s northern fleet?

Podcast host is Senior Research Fellow Karsten Friis, who heads NUPI’s Research group on security and defence. Listen to the episode on Spotify, Apple’s podcast player or Acast to learn more:
